Friday News 1/26

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we learned how to sequence events in a story. We read several books and pulled out the important events. Then we worked on putting them in order.

Writing: We finished our Poetry Unit! On Friday we had a writing celebration where we got to share our poems with Miss Turner's class.















Math: We started studying three-digit subtraction. We spent this week reviewing how to subtract hundreds, tens, and how to borrow.

Bible: This week we learned about Jesus healing a man with a withered hand and how he raised a widow's son from the dead.

Important Information:

2. Bible Memory Verse: "Who is this? He commands even the wind and the waves, and they obey him." Luke 8:25b

Friday News 1/15-1/19

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we finished learning how to draw conclusions. We practiced drawing conclusions with David Goes to School and some Pigeon books.















Writing: We finished up our unit on Poems! This week and next week we will be revising and editing our poems to get them ready for publishing.

Math: We finished our unit on three-digit addition. We practiced adding with word problems and with a jeopardy game.

Bible: This week we continued learning about Jesus' miracles. We learned about Jesus healing a centurion's servant who was very sick. We also learned that Jesus can forgive our sins and heal our bodies.

Important Information:

1. Spelling Words: taught, thought, watch, bought, brought, pitcher, rejoice, shoes, football, would, across, which, something, match, write, caught

2. Memory Verse: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

3. The end of the quarter is coming! There will be no school next Friday for a Teacher Work Day.

Friday News 1/8-1/12

We had a great first full week back from Christmas Break! Here's a look at our week:

Reading: We learned how to use clues to draw a conclusion. We practiced drawing conclusions from pictures and from reading passages. On Friday we played a game where we had to answer questions based on the clues given.



Writing: This week we continued writing our poems. We reviewed how to choose a topic, make a list, and turn it in to a poem.

Math: We learned how to add three-digit numbers. We practiced by using our whiteboards, playing bingo, and playing tic-tac-toe.






Bible: This week we learned about some of the miracles of Jesus. We learned about Jesus healing a man with leprosy and how he helped Peter with a miraculous catch of fish.

Important Information:

1. Spelling Words: draw, saw, ought, pause, straw, paws, lawn, bought, August, caught, brought, taught, because, thought, sure, goes

2. Memory Verse: He has removed our sins from us. He has removed them as far as the east is from the west. Psalm 103:12

3. There is no school this Monday. Enjoy the long weekend!

Please remember that tomorrow is Kite Day! We will be flying our kites from 9:20-9:50. Each student needs to bring their own kite to school. If you are available, we would love to have you join us and help during this time!
