Friday News 3/12-3/16

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we learned how to identify the Topic, Main Idea, and Details of a story. We read the books The Snowy Day and Swimmy and found the Main Idea and Details.

Writing: We worked on nominating our favorite books for different awards! We learned how to think about why a book is special and what award it should receive. Then we looked for places in the book that proved our opinion and added them to our nomination.

Math: This week we wrote our own survey and went to different classes to conduct the survey. Then we took the information and made some graphs and answered questions.

Bible: We started learning about Passion Week which is the last week of Jesus's life before He died on the cross.  We learned about Palm Sunday and Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey. We also learned about Jesus cleaning out the temple and teaching there.

Important Information:

1. Because next week is a short week we will not have any Spelling words or a Memory Verse.

2. Next Tuesday and Wednesday are our Student Led Conference. Please make sure that your child comes with you because they will be sharing what they have learned this year with you. Here is the schedule for you to reference:

3. Next Friday is our 2nd grade field trip to the Aquarium! Please make sure that your student comes to school on time as we will be leaving at 8:30. Each student needs to bring a home lunch, wear their red Friday t-shirt (or another red shirt), and bring a small bag or backpack. Please do not send any money with your student as we will not have time to spend in the gift shop.
